A bit about me

Support for couples who want to communicate better

If you are a couple juggling busy lives, work, family and responsibilities, it can be unsettling to notice that conversations no longer go anywhere helpful. You may still care deeply about one another, but feel misunderstood, disconnected, or stuck in patterns you cannot seem to shift on your own.

I offer couples therapy for partners who want to improve communication, understand one another better, and protect their relationship – without pressure to make drastic decisions.

When couples come to therapy with me

Couples often come to see me when:

  • Conversations escalate quickly or shut down altogether

  • One or both of you feels unheard, criticised, or emotionally distant

  • Anxiety or stress is affecting your relationship

  • Life changes – parenthood, career shifts, illness, loss – have altered how you relate

  • Neurodivergence, such as ADHD or autism, is part of your relationship dynamic

  • You want to strengthen your relationship before difficulties deepen

You do not need to be at crisis point to benefit from couples therapy. Many couples come because they value their relationship and want support to work together more effectively.

How I work with couples

In our sessions, I help you slow things down and make sense of the patterns that feel overwhelming or repetitive. Together, we work to understand what is happening between you and why certain moments feel particularly charged.

My approach is both reflective and practical. I support couples to:

  • Understand how their relationship patterns developed

  • Communicate needs, boundaries and concerns more clearly

  • Recognise what is within their control – and what is not

  • Respond to one another in ways that reduce tension rather than escalate it

  • Develop more supportive and long lasting ways of relating

The aim is not to decide who is right or wrong, but to help you feel more connected, understood and able to face challenges together.

Neurodivergent-affirming and LGBTQI+ inclusive couples therapy

I work with all couples and relationship structures. I have particular experience supporting neurodivergent couples, including where ADHD or autism is part of the relationship dynamic.

Differences are approached with curiosity and respect, rather than being pathologised or treated as something that needs fixing. I am mindful of how different ways of processing, communicating and experiencing the world can impact relationships, especially under stress.

My work is LGBTQI+ affirming, and I aim to offer a space where identity, difference and lived experience are understood and respected.

Couples therapy and grief

I also have experience supporting couples affected by bereavement. Grief can show up in relationships in complex and sometimes unexpected ways – through withdrawal, irritability, fear, or disconnection.

I offer a steady, compassionate space where you can explore how loss is affecting each of you, individually and together, and find ways to move forward with greater clarity and connection.

About me

I am a qualified and experienced psychotherapist offering couples counselling at VIVA Therapy. I work with couples at different stages of their relationship, including those navigating conflict, anxiety within the relationship, life transitions, separation, or loss.

I aim to create a calm, non-judgemental space where both partners feel heard and supported, and where it feels safe to reflect honestly on what is happening between you.

What our clients say about us

L, Client

Anne helped me through a really tough and turbulent time in my life. Working with her gave me the confidence and stability I’d been missing, and for the first time, I started to see how parts of my past were holding me back.

C, Client

I was feeling lost and overwhelmed, but Alex helped me navigate my emotions with kindness and patience. Her support has given me hope, and I now have the tools to manage my mental health in a way I never thought possible.

D, Client

At a very difficult time in my life I was advised to speak to Anne.  She listened but didn’t judge.  Instead she helped me to recognise and rationalise my feelings.  I felt she had empathy and a clear understanding of me as a person.  My time with her enabled me to move forward with a greater understanding of myself and my challenges. It gave me the emotional strength to address them with confidence.
